Emergency First Aid at Work

This one day Emergency First Aid at Work course is an excellent introduction to First Aid techniques. It is ideal for those who have been assessed as requiring a basic level of first aid knowledge by their employers’ first aid needs assessment or anyone with an interest in learning basic life saving skills.

This course can be delivered in-house, at your premises, or at one of our comfortable training rooms in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, North East England, close to Durham and Newcastle.

Please note that a maximum of 12 delegates can attend a course.

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Explain the role of the first aider, including reference to the use of available equipment and the need for recording incidents and actions
  • Explain the importance of basic hygiene in first aid procedures
  • Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency
  • Demonstrate how to administer CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) promptly and effectively
  • Demonstrate or explain how to administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who is:
    • unconscious
    • having a seizure
    • wounded, bleeding and/or in shock
    • choking
    • suffering from a minor injury.

Successful delegates will receive an HSF Training Ltd Emergency First Aid at Work certificate, valid for 3 years.

First Aid at Work

First aid training provides individuals with skills that can save lives and promote recovery in a casualty. This 3 day course providing in-depth coverage of possible workplace accidents and illnesses and their treatment. The mix of theory and practical based learning helps increase understanding and knowledge of first aid procedures.

The course is suitable for those designated as first aiders in their workplace and who have been identified as needing in-depth training by their employer’s first aid needs assessment. It is also ideal for anyone who would like to learn how to assist casualties outside of the workplace.

This course is delivered at our training rooms in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, North East England and can also be delivered as in-house training.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Maintain factual records relating to first aid provision
  • Explain the importance of personal hygiene in first aid procedures
  • Explain the use of first aid equipment provided in the workplace
  • Outline the role of first aiders in emergency procedures
  • Assess the situation and act safely, effectively and promptly in the event of an emergency
  • Administer effective CPR ( cardiopulmonary resuscitation )
  • Administer first aid to an unconscious casualty
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded & bleeding
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with burns & scalds
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints including spinal injuries
  • Administer first aid to a casualty in shock
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with eye injuries
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with poisoning or suffering from an anaphylactic shock
  • Recognise the presence of major illnesses and provide appropriate first aid.

Remember there are no hidden extras, the course includes:

  • All course materials, including a First Aid at Work text book
  • Lunch and refreshments provided on open courses.
  • Successful  delegates will receive an HSF Training Ltd First Aid at Work (FAAW) certificate, valid for 3 years.

This course is delivered at one of our comfortable training rooms in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, close to Durham and Newcastle and easily accessible from all areas of North East England. Alternatively we can deliver this as an in-house course at a client’s premises. Please note that the maximum number of students which can be accommodated on this course is 12.

First Aid at Work Revalidation

The First Aid at Work Revalidation course ensures First Aid At Work certificates are renewed and maintained.

This course is delivered at our training rooms in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, North East or at our client’s own site. Please call us for a quote for in-house training.

This course can be taken up to 3 months before the expiry date of a current First Aid at Work certificate, or up to 28 days after the certificate expiry date.

By the end of the course you will be able to:
