First Aid at Work

First aid training provides individuals with skills that can save lives and promote recovery in a casualty. This 3 day course providing in-depth coverage of possible workplace accidents and illnesses and their treatment. The mix of theory and practical based learning helps increase understanding and knowledge of first aid procedures.

The course is suitable for those designated as first aiders in their workplace and who have been identified as needing in-depth training by their employer’s first aid needs assessment. It is also ideal for anyone who would like to learn how to assist casualties outside of the workplace.

This course is delivered at our training rooms in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, North East England and can also be delivered as in-house training.

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Maintain factual records relating to first aid provision
  • Explain the importance of personal hygiene in first aid procedures
  • Explain the use of first aid equipment provided in the workplace
  • Outline the role of first aiders in emergency procedures
  • Assess the situation and act safely, effectively and promptly in the event of an emergency
  • Administer effective CPR ( cardiopulmonary resuscitation )
  • Administer first aid to an unconscious casualty
  • Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded & bleeding
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with burns & scalds
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones, muscles and joints including spinal injuries
  • Administer first aid to a casualty in shock
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with eye injuries
  • Administer first aid to a casualty with poisoning or suffering from an anaphylactic shock
  • Recognise the presence of major illnesses and provide appropriate first aid.

Remember there are no hidden extras, the course includes:

  • All course materials, including a First Aid at Work text book
  • Lunch and refreshments provided on open courses.
  • Successful  delegates will receive an HSF Training Ltd First Aid at Work (FAAW) certificate, valid for 3 years.

This course is delivered at one of our comfortable training rooms in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, close to Durham and Newcastle and easily accessible from all areas of North East England. Alternatively we can deliver this as an in-house course at a client’s premises. Please note that the maximum number of students which can be accommodated on this course is 12.

Level 4 Award in HACCP Management

We offer the Level 4 Award in HACCP Management for Food Manufacturing (QCF) and the Level 4 International Award in Managing HACCP for Catering. The qualifications have been designed to meet the real needs of personnel with management roles in food businesses, internal and external auditors and will also be useful for those wishing to deliver HACCP training at various levels.

This course has HACCP development and management accountability in mind. It is designed to equip persons with adequate knowledge to ensure that companies are able to develop and implement accurate HACCP plans. It will also be useful for those wishing to teach HACCP . The course is delivered as an open course here at HSF Training Ltd in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear, North East, or can be delivered in-house for businesses. Where delivered in-house we are able to tailor the content a little to link scenarios, policies and procedures to your workplace.

HACCP team leaders, core HACCP team members, technical managers, and trainers will all benefit from this course.

Course Content:

Explain the importance of HACCP based food safety management systems by being able to:

  • Explain the HACCP approach to food safety procedures
  • Review legislation relating to HACCP

Discuss the management and implementation of HACCP based procedures by being able to:

  • Discuss the allocation of responsibilities and resources
  • Explain the importance of effective communication
  • Develop the HACCP team
  • Identify staff training needs

Review the development of HACCP based procedures by being able to:

  • Explain pre requisites for HACCP
  • Analyse food production processes including use of end product
  • Produce process flow diagrams
  • Carry out hazard analysis and risk assessment in the production process
  • Determine critical control points, critical limits and corrective actions

Evaluate HACCP based procedures by being able to:

  • Explain documentation and record keeping procedures
  • Discuss verification and review of procedures

Assessment: By means of critical review of a supplier HACCP plan

Successful candidates will receive a Level 4 Award in HACCP Management from the awarding body.
