The NEBOSH HSE Award in Managing Risks and Risk Assessment at Work is an introductory level qualification that looks at health and safety risk management at work and the process to be adopted for controlling health and safety risks caused by workplace hazards.

This one day course is designed to assist those who are involved in managing workplace risks and who undertake risk assessments to confidently identify sensible and proportionate control measures. A key aim is to ensure learners understand that risk management is about taking practical steps to protect people from harm and suffering and providing them with the skills and knowledge to assist with this.

- Reasons for managing health & safety risks
- Identifying and understanding risks
- Controlling risks
- Sources of information
- Application of HSE risk assessment tools.
Learners are assessed by means of completion of a risk assessment case study which identifies a range of hazards and meets best practice standards (“suitable and sufficient”).
