NEBOSH National General Certificate

Yesterday (7th January), NEBOSH announced that their popular National and International General Certificates in Occupational Health and Safety have been reviewed and updated for 2026. We will therefore be delivering the new syllabus from February onwards, including for our open NEBOSH National General Certificate which starts on 16th March at our training premises in Washington, Tyne & Wear.

What has changed?

Most changes which have been made to the qualifications are minor. There are some key amendments:

  • The inclusion of  information regarding the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (Martyn’s Law). Health and Safety professionals will have key role to play in the implementation of the measures identified as part of the act.
  • The Unit 2 assessment, which consists of learners producing a comprehensive risk assessment, will now be marked using a points based marking system, rather than the previous met/not met system. The pass mark is 60%.

NEBOSH’s announcement regarding the updates can be found here.
